The device has a print cylinder (1) e.g. double-sided print cylinder, and a turning drum (2) e.g. single-sided drum, aligned such that reverse-printing grippers (5) are immersed into a gripper channel (GK) for gripping of rear edge areas (HK) of sheets. A channel width (LK) of the channel and a circumferential gap (LW) of face-and reverse printing transfer points (PS, PW) of the drum are equal in length. The width is measured along a print cylinder circumference between a channel rear edge (GHK) and a print cylinder gripper impact area. The gap is formed at an outer circumference of the drum.
