The system (2) has a load carrier (12) supported at a body-lateral support frame (10). A part of a frame structure (4) of a motor vehicle i.e. passenger car, is designed as the support frame and the load carrier is adjustably guided at the support frame. The support frame is guided by a sliding guide, rolling guide or a needle guide. The support frame includes an inner profile that corresponds with an outer profile of the load carrier, where the profiles are provided in sections corresponding to each other. The carrier is inserted into the sections in a resting position. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a load carrier system.
