The device has radiation sources (1) producing measuring radiation of different wavelengths, and a coupling element (2) guiding the measuring radiation to a attenuated total reflection prism (3). The device conducts measurement at a driver seat of a vehicle and determines an identity of a person. Measurement values, which permit unauthorized starting and/or guiding of the vehicle in a regulated or physiological incorrect condition such as impact of alcohols, intoxication- and anesthesia medium, are decreased by the person in a location.
