The tool (1) has a workpiece carrier (4) arranged at a machine frame (2) for receiving of a workpiece (5) to be processed. A tool carrier (21) is arranged at the machine frame for receiving a tool (22). A tool measuring device (26) measures a cutting edge of the tool found in the workpiece. The tool measuring device has a radiation source i.e. x-ray radiation source, for radiating the tool with an ionizing electromagnetic radiation. A radiation detector i.e. charge coupled device (CCD) detector, detects the radiation, and a control unit (32) evaluates the radiation. An independent claim is also included for a method for processing workpieces.
