Electrodeposition process for the preparation of nanostructured zinc oxide in a three-electrode-reactor using an aqueous solution of zinc salt and a further component; applying a potential; and adjusting the deposition temperature to less than 90[deg] C and depositing the nanostructured zinc oxide material on an aqueous solution containing electrically conductive substrate, where the further component is a dopant for nanostructured zinc oxide, is claimed.
