The guide has a set of deflection mechanisms (3, 4) with deflection wheels (10) of different sizes for deflection of a rope (1.1) around a Z-axis. The deflection mechanisms are arranged with respect to another set of deflection mechanisms (2, 5) for deflection of the rope around an X-axis. The YZ-planes of deflection wheels (7) of the mechanisms (2, 5) are oriented perpendicular to the X-axis for tangentially orienting the wheels (7) to a peripheral surface of the wheels (10) of the deflection mechanisms (3, 4) and/or for contacting the wheels (10) of the deflection mechanisms (3, 4).
