The method involves implementing a route planning and destination guidance based on a vehicle type e.g. passenger car, number of vehicle occupants, and date and time parameters. The number of vehicle occupants is detected with the aid of a detection unit (2) e.g. seat occupancy sensor, where the vehicle type is preset. A special lane is represented with a color marking during an optical output of a travel route. Prohibited zones i.e. ecological zones, drivable with entry permission are considered during the route planning and destination guidance.
