A multimeter comprises a housing containing a printed circuit board. The printed circuit board has a top side and an underside on. A cover assembly is configured so that they are at least a part of the upper side and covers the underside of the printed circuit board. The cover assembly includes an upper cover part in the region of the upper side of the printed circuit board and a lower cover part in the region of the underside of the printed circuit board. The cover assembly also contains a connecting structure, by means of which the upper cover part is connected with the lower cover part. The connecting structure is preferably formed by at least one hinge, which is configured in such a way that the upper cover part and the lower cover part between an open position and a closed configuration can be moved. Often there is provided a plurality of hinges.
