The device i.e. locomotive frame (1), has a rope (6) i.e. steel rope, with rope ends arranged over a cross rail (8) in a region of an exterior buffer plate (3) above a crash buffer (2) for forming a front sided opening (14). The rail with the rope is formed by a retaining triangle destructed during an impact of an impacting vehicle and by bars (10, 11) emanating from the frame in distance. The rope is retained by a supporting strut (12) flexibly arranged at the frame. The rail with the rope as catch elements is attached with retainers (17) of an impacting buffer plate (16) during a collision.
