A high temperature, high pressure autoclave (1), for analysis of a medium, based on a body (2) with a reaction zone (20) to contain the medium and inlet(s) at one end for introducing the medium into the zone, has a heating system (3) for creating a temperature gradient in the zone, medium extraction systems (4) at respective extraction points and a pressure compensation system (5) for maintaining constant pressure after an extraction. An independent claim is included for a method for analyzing fluid-mineral interactions using the autoclave, involving: (A) introducing the fluid and mineral (forming a reaction medium) into the reaction zone (20) of the autoclave (1); (B) pressurizing the medium; (C) heating the medium, using the heating system (3) to create a temperature gradient, and adjusting the pressure created; (D) carrying out at least one extraction of the reaction medium using an extraction system (4); and (E) compensating for the pressure difference caused by the extraction using the pressure compensation system (5).
