The method involves placing a re-usable protection support with a part of a surface for protecting the part of the surface, where the support has a layer that is contacted with the surface, and an intermediate layer that is constituted by a rigid or semi-rigid material. A non-protected surface is scrapped by gritting. The layer is constituted by a reusable material, and is made of an elastic material e.g. natural or synthetic rubber. An independent claim is also included for a re-usable protection support.
