The system has an exhaust gas processing unit e.g. catalytic converter (1), arranged on an exhaust line, and comprising an outlet (12) arranged for connecting a downstream part of the exhaust line to the processing unit using a tubular element (14). An exhaust gas recirculation device is arranged for recirculating a part of exhaust gas traversing the processing unit. The recirculation device is directly and rigidly connected on the outlet of the processing unit without using a tubular element.
