The system has a cartography module determining a braking setpoint resulting from actuation of a brake pedal of a motor vehicle. A stop managing module (24) elaborates an intermediate deceleration setpoint from a moderated deceleration setpoint. A determination module (26) calculates a braking setpoint gap from the braking setpoint and a reference value. The determination module determines a continuous braking setpoint equal to an addition of the intermediate deceleration setpoint and the braking setpoint gap. An independent claim is also included for an uncoupled braking method for a motor vehicle.
