The method involves determining a process signature representing a temporal evolution of pressure exerted on a rendered plastic material in a rheological state during an injection cycle at which the material is injected into a mold at a rate by an injection press (10). A press signature representing the evolution of the pressure exerted on the material during a purge cycle is determined, where the material is injected outside in absence of the mold by the press at the rate during the purge cycle. A mold signature is determined by subtracting the process signature and the press signature. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for regulating a target injection press to manufacture pieces identical to manufactured pieces, with same mold and from same plastic material source (2) an information medium comprising instructions to perform a method for determining a mold signature characterizing a piece produced after injection of a rendered plastic material (3) a device for regulating a target injection press to manufacture pieces identical to manufactured pieces, with same mold and from same plastic material source.
