PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matter wave rate gyroscope included in the top of an atomic chip. PSOLUTION: The rate gyroscope operates on a Sagnac effect and uses a super-low temperature atom to perform measurement. As a given configuration, the rate gyroscope includes an atomic trap which can stop the migration of a super-low temperature atomic cloud and means of splitting/migrating-reconnecting an atomic cloud to two atomic packets. The rate gyroscope is connected to an atomic chip 3 specially including a first conductor 30 through which a direct current IDC flows at adjustable intensity, a second conductor 31 which is substantially in parallel to the first conductor within a trap region and arranged symmetrically with both sides of the first conductor and a third conductor 32. The second and the third conductors carry alternating currents of the same frequencies and the same amplitudes flowing in the same directions, and the maximum amplitude and the frequency of the current creates a magnetic field having a higher magnitude than a magnetic force required to split an atomic cloud into two packets of an atomic within the atomic cloud.
