PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently ensure course-keeping performance by making a rudder plate hardly receive influence of a flow passed through a strut.;SOLUTION: The pod propulsion unit 10 is provided with a strut 12 provided so as to be downwardly extended from a hull 11 and turnable around an axis in a vertical direction; a pod 13 provided on a lower end of the strut 12; a propeller 14 rotatably provided on a front part of the pod 13; and the rudder plate 16 provided on a rear part of the pod 13. A plurality of the rudder plates 16 are provided at a rear side than the strut 12 at the rear part of the pod 13 with an interval in a circumferential direction of the pod 13 so as to avoid a position just behind the strut 12, and have a warping 16a curved in a direction along a swirl flow generated by rotation of the propeller 14 on a front edge part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
