Transformants of heavy metal accumulation of high and purification method of heavy metal contamination

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformed plant with high heavy metal accumulating properties, a method for efficiently purifying heavy metals, and a method for purifying organic mercury. PSOLUTION: The transformed plant, into which heavy metal transporter genes such as a merC gene, a merE gene, and a merF gene derived from microbes, and a syntaxin (SNARE) gene have been introduced, exhibits high accumulating properties of heavy metals such as mercury and cadmium, and heavy metals in a medium such as soil are absorbed and accumulated by the transformed plant to efficiently purify the medium contaminated with the heavy metals. A SYP121 gene and an AtVAM3 gene can be used as the syntaxin (SNARE) gene. Inorganic mercury and/or organic mercury can be purified by using a transformed microorganism into which a merE gene or a merF gene which is a heavy metal transporter gene has been introduced, and the transformed microorganism is especially useful in purifying methyl mercury with high toxicity.
