PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a translation support system that uses an example database to search for examples of sentences similar to an input sentence, particularly those which may include the input sentences, based on the input sentence. PSOLUTION: A translation server 100 which stores a number of parallel-translation examples of sentences having the same contents as examples of sentences determines, for an input sentence received from a terminal 200 and each example of sentence, values for the ratio of the number of words appearing in the examples of sentences among words included in the input sentence to the number of words included in the input sentence. The translation server 100 causes a display of the terminal 200 to display sentences resulting from translations using the parallel-translation examples of sentences with the same contents as the examples of translation, only for the part of each parallel-translation example that matches each example of a sentence, in decreasing order of the values determined. If there are a plurality of examples of sentences with the same values, the translation server 100 arranges the examples of sentences in such a way that the examples of sentences with smaller editing distances are given higher priority.
