PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain coating method without causing a film thinning phenomenon when the liquid film layer is composed of a wide layer 12 and a narrow layer 13 with respect to the curtain coating method by which a plurality of film layers are applied on the surface of a running plate by falling down a curtain 10 composed of a plurality of layers of liquid films.;SOLUTION: In the curtain coating method, the width of at least one layer in the liquid films comprising the fall-down curtain 10 is narrower than the full width of the curtain (the narrow layer 13), a layer (an end part auxiliary layer 15) covering a part where the curtain is not covered by the narrow layer is formed and a part where the narrow layer and the end part auxiliary layer are overlapped is provided. The layer (the wide layer 12) having the same width as the width of the curtain is existed by only one layer and the end part auxiliary layer 15 is composed of a material the same as that of the wide layer 12. The flow rate of the end part auxiliary layer 15 and/or the difference of the viscosity between the narrow layer 13 and the end part auxiliary layer 15 are controlled corresponding to the shrinkage allowance X of the narrow layer 13 during the free fall-down of the curtain.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
