PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patrol assistance system that supports an efficient patrol by improving patrol quality and preventing omissions and route errors.;SOLUTION: When a patrol who carries a bar-code-scanner-enabled PHS terminal 20 having a position information acquisition mechanism as a portable terminal arrives at a patrol point of inspection, a bar code at the patrol point is read with a bar code scanner 22 as identification information representing the patrol point and transmitted along with position information to a server 10. The server 10 returns items of inspection at the patrol point as state inspection items when verifying the arrival at the correct patrol point from both identification information and position information. The PHS terminal 20 displays the state inspection items from the server 10 on an output part 24 to prompt the patrol to make an inspection and input sequential inspection results from an input part 23, and transmits them as state inspection results to the server 10.
