PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining promptly and accurately a life of a secondary battery constituted by series-connecting a plurality of unit- batteries with a simple structure; and a life determining method. SOLUTION: In a life determining device of secondary batteries which are constituted by series-connecting a plurality of unit-batteries to each other, the life determining device comprises a determining means for determining a life based on a value of an open circuit voltage Voc of at least one serial circuit constituted by unit-batteries of a part of the plurality of unit-batteries which constitute the secondary battery.
