A process for producing vanadium-rich iron alloys and fusedrefractory metal oxides is described. The process comprises submitting miningresiduesor metallurgical wastes to a pyrometallurgical reductive treatment to producea moltenvanadium-rich iron alloy and a fused refractory metal oxide; separating themoltenvanadium-rich iron alloy from the fused refractory metal oxide; and recoveringthemolten vanadium-rich iron alloy and the fused refractory metal oxide.
