Package for transporting of for instance potentially hazardous contents such as a diagnostic specimen (S), comprising a receptacle (2) and lid (3) removably placed on said receptacle (2), both comprising a receiving surface (4) with a surrounding sidewall (5) having an edge (6, 7) facing away from the receiving surface (4) adapted to cooperate with a securing element (8) removably provided on both edges, wherein between said edges a sealing element (11) is provided, which together with the edges and the securing element (8) form a leakage proof pressure resistant fastening of the lid onto the receptacle, which fastening is adapted to increase the tightness of the closure of the lid onto the receptacle when internal pressure in the package changes such that the package (1) remains leakage proof. The invention further relates to a kit of package parts for forming the above mentioned pressure resistant package.
