The invention relates to a method to circumvent the natural loss of fluorescence of fluorophores used to label LDR probes due to freezing/thawing cycles which often results in inconsistent and biased experiment outputs; the method is based on indirect labeling of LDR probes by the addition of universal sequences (ULS) which hybridize to fluorophore-labeled oligonucleotides with complementary universal sequences (cULS). The invention also relates to LDR DPs for LDR-UA assays, comprising ULS and labelled cULS.
