The machine has a mobile carriage moving a bar i.e. kelly (18), along a longitudinal direction of a mast, where the carriage includes a maintenance unit for maintaining the bar relative to the carriage. The maintenance unit is released in an unlocked state and displaced relative to the bar. The maintenance unit comprises a blocking finger inserted in an opening (44) of one of cavities (40, 40a, 40'). Each cavity includes another opening (48) communicating with the former opening while emerging from a longitudinal face (50) of the bar.
