PURPOSE: A health food composition containing Aster koraiensis extract is provided to induce activity of Quinone reductase, which is a cancer prevention indicator enzyme. CONSTITUTION: Aster koraiensis extract is extracted from Aster koraiensis, Gymnaster koraiensis, or their mixture. The Aster koraiensis extract is extracted in a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, C1-C4 alcohol, ethyl acetate, methylene chloride, and chloroform. The C1-C4 alcohol is methanol or ethanol. A health food composition increases the activity of Quinone reductase to detoxifies cancer-causing materials. Aster koraiensis friction is obtained from column chromatography using water and solvent. The solvent is a mixture of hexane and ethylene acetate at a ratio of 10:1, 5:1, 2:1, 1:1.
