PURPOSE: A device to measure thickness and distinguish shape of a steel material using a vision camera, and a method to measure thickness and distinguish shape of the steel material using the same are provided to exactly measure the thickness of a steel material even the steel material is twisted.;CONSTITUTION: A device to measure thickness and distinguish shape of a steel material using a vision camera comprises laser emitting parts(100), camera light receiving parts(200), and an analysis processing part. The laser emitting parts irradiate a laser beam to the side surfaces of a steel material(1). The camera receiving parts get the laser beam reflected from the side parts of the steel material as an image. The analysis processing part analyzes the image from the camera receiving parts, and distinguishes the shape or thickness of the steel material.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
