PURPOSE: A method for controlling a digital image processing apparatus is provided to efficiently detect a fingerprint by judging whether or not a fingerprint exists in an incident terminal of an optical system according to the characteristic of an edge image.;CONSTITUTION: A digital signal processor obtains an average color difference value for equally divided areas of edge portions of an image(S507), and a digital signal processor increase an accumulated excess number one time if the average color difference exceeds a reference difference value(S508,S509).
