PURPOSE: A composition for treating gout containing Angelica gigas nakai extract is provided to suppress xanthine oxidase and Cox-2 activation. CONSTITUTION: A composition for treating gout contains Angelica gigas nakai extract. The Angelica gigas nakai contains 98 weight% of decursin and decursinol angelate. A composition for preventing inflammation contains Angelica gigas nakai extract. A method for manufacturing Angelica gigas nakai extract comprises: a step of pulverizing Angelica gigas nakai into 40mesh, and drying 5% or less of moisture content; a step of extracting Angelica gigas nakai with medicinal alcohol or spirit alcohol for 12 hours; a step of evaporating the concentrate to obtain high viscosity; a step of dissolving with medicinal alcohol or spirit alcohol and centrifuging to obtain supernatant; a step of concentrating the supernatant and eluting with 60% of alcohol; and a step of centrifuging to obtain 60% ethanol layer and concentrating.
