The defense system comprises reconnaissance units. A civilian ship is temporarily or permanently mounted with a stationary weapon, where the reconnaissance systems are varied and activated. The stationary weapon comprises an adjusted weapon, like a machine gun, naval cannon (2a), an armored personnel carrier, a tank or an artillery gun. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method for outfitting the civilian ships for protection and defense in endangered areas; (2) a unit for executing a method for outfitting the civilian ships for protection and defense in endangered areas; and (3) an insert for a defense system.
