The method involves selecting a mobile communication terminal (1500) as destination of multimedia data by a user, and adapting the data corresponding to requirements of the terminal. The adapted data is transmitted to a server (1300) over a network (1200). An attempt is made to produce a communication link with the terminal by a sever application in the server. The adapted data is transmitted from the server to the terminal selected by the user, when the link is produced, such that the data is transmitted independent of subscriber by the user. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a communication system for transmitting multimedia data a computer terminal to a mobile communication terminal (2) a machine readable medium having instructions to perform a method for transmitting multimedia data a computer terminal to a mobile communication terminal.
