The system has a memory e.g. Universal serial busstick, for storing assistance information, and an output unit coupled with control unit and outputting the information based on operation and/or system condition information. The assistance information is formed, such that an anthropomorphic character is represented on the output unit during the outputting of the assistance information. The control unit detects an actual area in which an actual position of a motor vehicle is located and carries out a selection of a version of the assistance information based on the area. An independent claim is also included for a method for assisting a user of a motor vehicle.
