The method involves utilizing heat as driving energy, and introducing the driving energy in form of a heating medium as a drive mass flow with high pressure and high temperature into an injector (3). A suction mass flow with low pressure and low temperature is sucked. The drive mass flow is a vaporizable liquid e.g. water, and is provided in a liquid phase near a boiling point or exactly in a boiling state. A liquid-vapor-mixture produced in the injector is conducted directly into a condenser (2). An independent claim is also included for a device for cooling a building area or a single room e.g. office space or hotel rooms.
