The pumping device has a pump (3) for fluid transportation and a control unit assigned at the pump. The control unit has an adapter housing separately executed from a pump housing of the pump. A plug adapter part for connection with the pump is arranged at the adapter housing and a corresponding plug adapter part is arranged at the pump housing. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a cleaning system with a common pump for two fluid discharge nozzles; and (2) a method for operating a cleaning system.
