The method involves extracting gas from an area during a temperature rise of contents over a pre-determined opening temperature (T1) by opening a degassing device. The degassing device is closed during a drop in temperature by a pre-determined closing temperature (T3) lying below the opening temperature, where opening and closing processes of the degassing device follow a hysteresis curve. A temperature lying above a foam limit temperature (TS) is selected as the opening temperature and is considered as foam limit temperature, below which a foam formation of the contents arises.
