The stirring device has a base part, on which a magnetic stirring rod and a container containing fluid to be stirred are attached. Electromagnetic coils are connected with a pole shoe (5) that is oriented on a common central point. Eddy current interrupted separation spaces or longitudinal slots (9), vertical slots (11), and radial inward directed slot (12) are provided in a base plate i.e. frame (8) and/or core parts (10) and/or the pole shoe. The separation spaces or slots are oriented parallel to a magnetic field line of a utility flux in a magnetic closing circuit. The core parts, base plate and the pole shoe are made of magnetizable sheet metal.
