The device has a contact pressure carriage (2) displaceable along a guide path by a drive unit (3), A detection device determines a position of the contact pressure carriage with in the guide path. The detection device includes an image pattern (4) arranged at a wall of a valuable container (1), where the image pattern runs along the guide path. An optical sensor is displaceable with the contact pressure carriage, and is formed as a reflected-light barrier. The image pattern is formed as 5-bit-binary code or 5-bit-gray code.
