Brightness sensor for use at windscreen of motor vehicle i.e. passenger car, during driving in e.g. tunnel, has direction and global sensors respectively detecting global and anisotropic light intensities in solid angles

The sensor (100) has a rain sensor, and a direction sensor (110) detecting anisotropic light intensity in a fixed solid angle (115). A global sensor (120) detects global light intensity in another fixed solid angle (125), where one of the solid angles (125) is larger than the other solid angle (115). An evaluation circuit (130) i.e. microcontroller, evaluates signals of the direction sensor and/or the global sensor. The evaluation circuit adjusts a parameter i.e. reinforcement value, for evaluating the signal of the direction sensor depending on the signal of the global sensor.
