The device has a holder (2) i.e. holding rod, for holding a stem (3) of a cutting for a planting in propagation soil. The holder holding the cutting is penetrated into a planting bed (8). The planting bed of the cutting has a soft base. A soft layer (1) includes foam plastic, rubber, felt or fine bristle film (7). The holder includes a rounding (10) at a tip in a holder side. A small elevation is produced in a hollow space when the holders are pushed together.
