The method involves pre-determining a time point, at which a vehicle (10) is used, and a driving route, at which the vehicle is driven from the time point, where the vehicle is driven by an electrical motor (2) fed by a battery (1). The battery is charged dependent on the time point and the driving route such that the battery is charged at the pre-determined time point with a charge sufficient to drive the vehicle in the driving route. A reference charging condition of the battery is determined depending on a topology of the driving route and/or a driving manner of a driver. An independent claim is also included for a control for charging a battery of a vehicle.
