The generator has a stage for generating high frequency (HF) power, where the stage is coupled to another stage that comprises inputs (A, B) and outputs (C, D). A series resonant circuit is located between the input and the output of the latter stage. An inductor (Lp) is switched parallel to the input and a capacitor (Cp) is switched parallel to the output. A voltage regulator monitors output voltage at the output of the latter stage, and regulates a power supply unit. A voltage dependent resistor is provided within the latter stage. An independent claim is also included for a surgical system comprising a high frequency surgery generator.
