The method involves determining system power by a benchmark module i.e. embedded measuring module, which represents a code structure of the application. Running time of the benchmark module is measured, and is used for determining the required system power. A CPU load measured by a load value, which is determined based on the benchmark module. A program path is determined by the benchmark module. The running time of the benchmark module is defined as a reference for the system power required by the application. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining an interrupt load produced by an application.
