The method involves sending a memory reading command and a memory region address by an interface to an integrated data processing unit. A memory region is partially read by the interface based on the address, and the read memory content is compared with a memory region identifier. An address of the memory region at which the read memory content is stored, is determined when the memory content matches with the identifier. The memory region address is generated such that an address bit is set when all other address bits are deleted. An independent claim is also included for a parameterizable device for operating a servomotor.
