The spacer has a hollow profile bar made of metal such as steel or aluminum, an outer wall (1), edges (3, 4) with recesses (5, 6) and an inner wall (2). The recesses are filled with expanding material with a foaming pressure of 0.03 to 0.3 newton/square millimeter. Density of the expanding material lies in a range between 400 und 700 kg/m3. The expanding material is selected from the group consisting of non expanded vermiculite material, partially dehydrated vermiculite material, expandable graphite or expandable sodium silicate. A hollow space (7) is filled with a drying agent.
