Spacer for manufacturing fire protection glazing that is utilized in ship outer wall, has hollow profile bar made of metal, and edges with recesses that are filled expanding material with foaming pressure of specific value
The spacer has a hollow profile bar made of metal such as steel or aluminum, an outer wall (1), edges (3, 4) with recesses (5, 6) and an inner wall (2). The recesses are filled with expanding material with a foaming pressure of 0.03 to 0.3 newton/square millimeter. Density of the expanding material lies in a range between 400 und 700 kg/m3. The expanding material is selected from the group consisting of non expanded vermiculite material, partially dehydrated vermiculite material, expandable graphite or expandable sodium silicate. A hollow space (7) is filled with a drying agent. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a spacer (2) a fire protection glazing comprising a disk (3) a method for manufacturing a fire protection glazing.
