The heater has infrared radiators (7) for generating a desired heat to a neck of a shoulder of a passenger placed on a seat of a motor vehicle. The desired heat is supplied via an outlet opening (10) within a wall (8) of a head-rest (3) of the seat. Infrared radiators generating infrared-heat are provided as the infrared radiators generating the desired heat, where the infrared-heat acts independent of air flow directly to the neck of the shoulder. Infrared-power diodes (11) are arranged at a distance to each other in a lower region of the head-rest in a horizontal direction.
