The method involves applying a backing (2) on one side of a textile material. The textile material has compressed fibers in form of fiber bundles or threads, where an ultrasound field is coupled to the textile material that lie on a surface of a cooled cylinder. A carpet (1) overlies on the surface of the cooled cylinder during the interaction of the ultrasound field with a nap side. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for consolidation of textile material.
