Method for correcting Raman or fluorescence signal with respect to influence of biological tissue, involves correcting Raman or fluorescence signals based on relation between optical characteristics of medium and intensity of signals
The method involves overlapping irradiated volume of a turbid medium and volume from which signals are detected. Correction of Raman or fluorescence signals is derived from information of diffuse back-scattering. Absorption and scattering characteristics of the medium are determined from back-scattering signals. The Raman or fluorescence signals are corrected based on relation between optical characteristics e.g. absorption coefficients (mu a), of the medium and intensity of the Raman or fluorescence signals. An independent claim is also included for a device for correcting Raman or fluorescence signal with respect to influence of a turbid medium.
