The method involves providing a forge blank. A synchronizer ring is forged in an axial extension by a forging process such that shaped ridges (17, 18) are formed at axial end regions of a forged synchronizer ring raw part (14) in a radial direction. The ridges are formed during the forging process and inwardly or outwardly extended in the radial direction. One of the ridges is cut by stamping a side contour of a ratchet tooth and by separating sections unrequired for the tooth. The raw part is finished by removing shaped ridges, which are formed by the forging process.
