PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooled gas duct changing device for a vacuum heat treatment furnace, having stable gas cooling performance and simple construction for change-over with a single drive mechanism while securing a large opening area.;SOLUTION: The cooled gas duct changing device for the vacuum heat treatment furnace comprises a cooling chamber 22 encircling a cooling region in which a treated product 1 rests and a gas cooling and circulating device 24 for cooling and circulating gas passing through the cooling chamber, wherein the heated treated product is cooled by pressurized gas being circulated. It has a fixed partition plate 42 for partitioning the cooling chamber 22 from the gas cooling and circulating device 24 and a rotary partition plate 44 to be rotationally driven along the surface of the fixed partition plate. The fixed partition plate 42 has an opening passing through the almost whole face, and the rotary partition plate 44 has a suction opening and a discharge opening partially communicated with a suction port and a discharge port of the gas cooling and circulating device, respectively.
