The method involves determining luminance and chrominance values of component pixels associated to a source pixel (PS) of a source image (S) during decomposing the source image. The values are determined such that the luminance values are equal to a luminance value of the source pixel and one of the chrominance values is different from a chrominance value of the source pixel, if the source pixel is outside an encompassing zone (Z). The values are determined such that one of the luminance values is different from the luminance value of the source pixel, if the source pixel is inside the zone. An independent claim is also included for a method for displaying a sequence of source images with a source display frequency.
